6 Essential Tips For Tanning In The Shade

Summer is coming ! We all want to show off a tanned and luminous body. But exposing yourself to direct sunlight is dangerous. On the other hand, not everyone has the chance to go to a sunny and tropical destination. Sometimes you have to be content with the local climate. But, tanning in the shade is not only possible, but recommended. Taking care of your sun capital is imperative to delay skin aging, but also to protect yourself from lesions. Exit heatstroke and sunburn. How to take care of your skin while enjoying the joys of the outdoors and summer days? Here are our top tips for tanning in the shade.

Why do we Tan in the Shade?

Because the Protections do not completely filter uv rays

A part still passes through the parasols, the leaves of the trees, the safety canvases or even the clouds.

Did you know that clouds filter on average only 10% of ultraviolet rays?

Thanks to the Reverberation

On the other hand, the UV rays reverberate on the ground, the sand and come back by ricochet. This phenomenon is all the more true on water.

It is for exactly these same reasons that staying in the shade does not mean totally protecting yourself from sunburn.

1. Choose an even Shade

Choosing an area where the shade is even allows the body to look more beautifully tanned and golden. Not only will the appearance of the tan be more homogeneous, but you will considerably reduce sunburn.

Did you know ? The body remembers. Sunburned skin ages much faster and loses its elasticity more quickly. Wrinkles will appear younger and will be more pronounced.

Similarly, the appearance of brown spots is multiplied in people who have exposed their body too much to the sun’s rays.

2. Prepare your Body

Anticipate and prepare your body. In the weeks leading up to your stay, stock up on vitamin A and carotenoids. You find them in carrots, tomatoes, melons, peppers, spinach and broccoli.

Indeed, vitamins, trace elements and minerals promote the secretion of melanin which facilitates tanning.

If you are not a fan of fruits and vegetables, you can always use dietary supplements in the form of pills. Talk to your pharmacist who will give you all the personalized advice.

3. Prepare your Skin

The departure on vacation is approaching? Remember to exfoliate regularly. Practice a scrub twice a week during the 2 or 3 weeks before the holidays. Thus, you will eliminate dead skin and refine your skin texture.

Once on vacation, a gentle and regular exfoliation does not remove the tan. Only dead skin falls off. Exfoliation maintains the skin and makes it more receptive.

We prefer it organic. A scrub can be found in all large surfaces. A fragile skin is supplied in pharmacy or parapharmacy.

Also, remember to moisturize your skin properly. A body milk morning and evening prevents dry skin and therefore avoids peeling.

4. Protect yourself from uv rays

In full sun or in the shade, it is always important to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays. The new simplified regulations indicate 5 levels of protection: SPF 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50. The concept of 50+ is used when laboratory tests indicate a level higher than 50. As the law prohibits exceeding the threshold of 50 to avoid misleading advertisements, so manufacturers rate 50+.

Dark skin is enough for indices of 20 or 30, once the first days have passed.

Apply sunscreen about 15 minutes before going out.

We are always more vigilant with children’s skin, which requires optimal protection, regardless of the amount of sunshine. A child must always wear a hat or bucket hat, glasses, T-shirt and sunscreen and stay under the parasol. The same goes for pregnant women.

Attention, remain vigilant on the reference to UVA too, because they can damage the skin in depth. You must therefore imperatively read the UVA logo surrounded by a circle to trust a product.

Reminder: apply sunscreen every 2 hours and reapply after each bath even if the 2 hours have not elapsed.

We adapt the texture of the cream to each type of skin. If the sprays are easy to use and the fluids comfortable, it is however wiser to choose the texture according to your epidermis depending on whether it is rather dry or mixed.

5. Hydrate your Skin

To enjoy the benefits of the sun and save the tan capital of the day, it is imperative to moisturize the skin.

Prefer thick cream-type moisturizers. Treatments containing natural oils or shea butter have superior moisturizing power.

Namely: Vaseline retains heat, so it is not recommended after a hot day outdoors.

Remember to drink between 2.5 and 3 liters of water on tanning days. Rehydrating from the inside helps keep the skin young and supple.

6. Wear your Sunglasses

Even in the shade, protecting your eyes from the sun’s rays is essential. With a suitable and properly applied sunscreen, you will not have any trace around the eyes.

Those who prefer to keep their eyes closed should remember that the eyelids only filter 25% of UV rays and should be protected too.

Glasses also act as a barrier against the shape of wrinkles and premature aging of the skin around the eyebrows (frown lines).

Of course, we choose our sunglasses lenses with a sufficient UV filter.
