Essential oils: Why Should They Become Part Of Health Care?

Did you know that essential oils can relieve you of various health problems? In order for the positive effects of oils to manifest, their correct application is also necessary.

Can you describe to us in more detail what essential oils are?

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in plants, they ensure their defenses and are 50 to 70 times more effective than the plants themselves. They are mainly extracted by a process of precise distillation or cold pressing. Every single essential oil acts magically in different ways , from captivating aromas affecting all our senses, to natural healing and cosmetic effects, preparation of food, drinks and cleaning the household without chemicals.

What effects do essential oils have on our body?

With them you can find alternative treatment for various health problems, inhale beautiful aromas to improve your mood and relieve stress and tension, try delicious recipes with them, or treat sore muscles, burns, bruises, wounds and scratches. They help to sleep better. Using oils, you can also create your own cosmetics without unwanted chemical components, replacing toxic cleaning agents in your home.

What can we use essential oils for?

There are hundreds of ways to use essential oils, each with at least one of three application methods: diffusing, topically, and as a food additive. The essential oil can be diffused with a diffuser or inhaled directly for a stimulating aromatic experience.

The oils are easily absorbed into the skin and can therefore be safely applied topically either alone, in combination with other topical oils or with base oils. They are most often applied to the feet, back, chest, nape of the neck or other problematic areas by painting or massaging. It can also be taken internally by adding a few drops to water, under the tongue or in a capsule.

When we want to apply essential oils to the skin, we should first dilute them with other oils. Which ones are they?

Essential oils are extracts from plants and because they are highly concentrated, they are up to 50-70 times more effective than the plants themselves. For dilution, we can use jojoba, almond or calendula oil. Diluting the oil will not take away its strength. On the contrary, it will be even better absorbed into the skin.

Sensitive areas that should be avoided during local application are the eyes, inner ears, genitals and injured or otherwise damaged skin. Children and people with sensitive skin are especially sensitive. If we follow the instructions on the labels before using essential oils topically, we have nothing to worry about.

Are essential oils safe for newborns and babies?

They are, but they should be used sparingly and in small quantities. We start gradually and in minimal quantities. It is recommended to dilute the oil before topical application. We apply it to the bottom of the feet. For children under two years of age, it is advisable to start with distraction using a diffuser. The effects of oils such as fennel and dill are excellent against colic , which often troubles babies. Roman chamomile and lavender, on the other hand, are excellent for purifying the air, creating a peaceful atmosphere for sleep, or for teething.

Is it appropriate to use oils during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Oils can also be trusted during pregnancy and breastfeeding. During the first trimester, we recommend using the power of oils, for example, against initial fears, to support digestion, immunity or concentration.

During the second trimester, rub the belly to improve the elasticity of the skin and to connect with the baby, or for a sore back or swollen legs.

And in the last trimester, we can use essential oils for heartburn, hemorrhoids and to create an atmosphere in preparation for childbirth. *Pregnant women are not recommended to use oils such as Clary Sage and Peppermint. As for breastfeeding – oils such as fennel and basil are excellent aids to support lactation.

Specific tips for using essential oils

When there are signs of illness – a notorious mixture effective in fighting the flu or for supporting immunity is sprayed in the diffuser as soon as one of the family members starts sneezing. The ratio depends on the age of the family members, but it is usually 1 drop of the oils: TEA TREE, LEMON, FRANKINCENSE, ON GUARD and OREGANO.

For a stuffy nose – for a stuffy nose and easy breathing, we offer a range of Air products, so we recommend diffusing this oil to stimulate the airways.

For weight loss – a blend of oils helps manage hunger pangs and is taken with water before meals to prevent overeating, it will also give us a dose of revitalizing energy before exercise. We can add a few drops to our favorite smoothie for a longer feeling of satiety or massage into the abdomen, hips and thighs for a smoothing, warming effect.
